Energy? What? Me Worry?

Energy is a pain in the ass. I never seem to have enough. Probably because it's more fun to build ships and research stuff rather than build power plants. Plus my Solar Plant is at level 11 right now and the next step is going to be expensive. But I gots to do it. With everything running at 100% I am running at a big energy deficit and getting only a 0.81 production factor.

By reducing the production of my metal mines to 40% I use less energy for metal, giving me more energy to use for the things I need right now, namely crystal and deut.

See how changing the metal production to 40% I am producing more of the good stuff? Anyway, the energy thing is making sense to me, for now.

Once I have enough crystal for another level on my Solar Plant I will put the production level of metal back at 100%. I hate to leave my mines working at less than capacity since they are essentially creating networth. So I will babysit this until I have enough crystal to make another level on my Solar Plant.

I get the feeling this game could take up a lot of time each day. I got another feeling that those are fateful words.

Once you get going, it just becomes a CHECKING game. I play when I am reading DIGG and other stuff that I do daily, and then I just CHECK on stuff throughout the day when I think of it. It's like checking your mail, but instead, you're checking on your EMPIRE.

Okay, so you have the option to build SOLAR SATS on your SHIPYARD menu. These can be destroyed by raiders and such because they are IN SPACE...but they are a quick and cheap, easy way to bump up your SOLAR love quicker. Always keep Solar Mines a bit above everything else, but you can use SOLAR SATS to soften the load and bump you up into the extra 100 surplus.

Just remember to build actual mines, because one space battle will take all your solar sats down and you'll be negative boy again.

I have a feeling that once you have a fleet you can't leave it orbiting around your planet or it will be a sitting duck. The Guides talk about fleetsaving, which I think is sending your fleet on a trip and you calculate when it will come back, and sync that with the next time you play OGame.

THAT sounds like a pain in the ass to me. I don't want to babysit this every day or force myself to be online at a certain time because my fleet is in danger.

I haven't gotten to that point yet so I'm not sure if that's how fleet saving works or not.
